About Cindy Griffith Art
Vermont is home and where I worked professionally for many, many years before retiring and focusing on my art. My art has evolved starting as a highly representational artist to a more relaxed interpretations of my subjects.
With my representational and abstract art, I enjoy amplifying colors and textures to inform my artistic expression. I love the drama of lights and darks, warms and cools while using a vibrant color palette for subjects within the landscape. I have played with painting the flow of fabric and flowers for my more abstract art.
I usually start a panting with a study or “practice” piece and frequently begin with an underpainting of pastel, watercolor or even mineral spirits. Laying out the painting bones with the underpainting helps in the final placement of characters and helps to work out the composition details.
